Dosages are specified whenever medication is given and one of the most common causes of error is incorrect dosing. The Dose Syntax project looked at how a syntax could be specified that would allow for clear communication of dosage instruction. A proportion of this work was done as an NHS-IA project, and there is a final report to the board for this part. Development of the formal UML model and the associated demonstration application continues.

Getting the XML form of the dm+d data into a human readable form and then loading it into common tools such as Excel or Access can be challenging if you are not familiar with XML processing. The dm+d loader is not a complete solution, but it does help. The picture to the right shows the main screen. You can access a series of different data releases and expand the contents of each one. Each individual table can then be viewed in the lower pane of the screen and can be copied from there into other applications. The application has an installer and will check that your system meets the requirements. Currently it need Microsoft .Net Framework v1.1. Download a version from here version 3.1.5 This work was partly funded by NHS Connecting for Health. The loader is provided as is with no warranties express or implied of any kind. The loader appears to work, but has not been exhaustively tested. Users should not rely on the correctness of the output. The dm+d data download is available to registered users at the dm+d download site. |
